Bertholet & Cie ‘Secondes Indépendantes’ Savonet in Rose Gold

Although we have dealt a dozen pocket watches featuring the likable ‘jumping seconds’ complication, we have never seen an example with an overal finishing this magnificent. The two-train movement with slipping winding barrels together with the significant amount of large red adjusted rubies is almost bewildering. Scroll down to read more about this timepiece.

Description

Attractive high grade rosé gold savonet pocket watch by Bertholet & Cie with ‘Secondes Indépendantes’ complication.

The white enamel dial remains in an immaculate state. Large yet elegant black Roman hours and Arabic minutes indication. This example features a decentralized seconds hand which is uncommon for ‘jumping seconds’ pocket watches. Stunning blued steed centralized seconds hand.

The heavy 18K rosé gold case is set with three thick lids all bearing hold hallmarks. No dents or deep scratches indicating this watch has not been worn much throughout the past ± 140 years. The inner lid shows an attractive description featuring the complication, a few movement specifications and its makers signature.

The movement is clean and is running with a high amplitude, keeping very accurate timing (+/- 10 seconds every 24 hours). The jumping seconds hand, ticking one beat every second instead of a sweeping motion, can be start/stopped with the pusher at the 12 hour position.
