We thank Emmanuel Breguet for his efforts and information regarding the history of this Breguet timepiece.
According to the official Breguet archives we have discovered the following information about this particular example;
– BREGUET Nr. 5169 : Small watch, half hunting-case nr. 15660 with blue-enameled roman numerals, winding crown at III o’clock, gold cuvette, lever escapement. Year of production : 1872. Sent to Messrs Mir & Cottereau (Breguet agents in Constantinople/Istanbul) in 1872 Returned to Breguet. Sold on July 14, 1877 to Mr. Cavrel for the price of 686 Francs.
An all original 150 year old pendant watch by Breguet, remaining in a good and honest condition.
The sturdy 18K yellow gold half-hunter case shows little signs of use except for some superficial scratches. The enamel band depicting a pearl like guilloche enamel with blue Roman hour markers shows a tiny flaw near the 5 hour position.
Front lid jumps open when winding crown is pushed down.
White enamel dial with subtle decoration, original half-hunter hands still present. The white enamel dial is showing some signs of use (see pictures).
The clean typical second half 19th century Breguet movement is clean and runs with a solid tick and good accuracy.
