This diamond set Cartier in platinum and rock crystal pocket watch is a true rarity, exuding an irresistible allure to both Cartier or Art-deco watch collectors. Made in the 1920s, this ultra-flat timepiece remains in very fine and completely original condition, complete with its red leather box.
The two tone silvered guilloché engraved dial features a black minute track with Arabic numeral 5 minute markers and blued steel hands.
The dial has a gorgeous enamel chapter ring inset with gold Roman numerals, alternating with discreet little fleurettes.
The case has multiple French platinum hallmarks and is numbered 17538.
The platinum case band is set with rose-cut diamonds (all present). The rose cut is a form of antique diamond cut, which preceded the modern brilliant cut. Slight repair to the edge of the rock crystal, which is the only notable flaw to this extraordinary piece.
The refined ultra-thin movement by European Watch & Clock Co. is made out of the highest standards (19 jewels and 8 adjustments). The movement is running smoothly with a noteworthy accuracy.
