Description
Stunning classic white enamel dial with sunken centre and seconds sub-dial.
The signed dial features black Arabic hour indication and blued steel ‘spade’ hands.
The rare high grade caliber 876 movement has been timed at three positions for all climates, set with 15 rubies and after almost a century it still runs with an accuracy of +-5 seconds every 24 hours.
Beautiful overall finishing.
The case has multiple English sterling silver hallmarks and a Dennison signature (Rolex’s case maker in the UK).
The sturdy and heavy case (total weight of grams) shows little signs of use except for some superficial scratches and some more visible scratches around the opening notch and on the inner lid. The inner lid has a presentation engraving:
‘The Herts and Essex Aeroplane Club, Presented by the members to Mr B. D. Whitaker, The clubs ground engineer, 22nd February 1934.’
